THE COME COMMAND

To teach the come command you will need a 30 to 50 foot check rope with a snap on one end, and a choke chain.

Place the chain over the dogs neck and attach the rope. ( do not have any other collars on the dog at this time)

Allow your dog to run and play for a few minutes. when your ready to teach this first step you should grab the rope taking up the slack and when you have a taught line give the rope a quick tug ( to tighten the chain) and then release the rope pressure( to loosen the chain) as your dog starts to head towards you command him to COME followed by lots of praise and excitement. keep pulling in the slack untill he gets all the way to you. praise him for comming and send him on his way. repeat this process a few times every day for a few days untill your dog comes to you reliably with out having to pull on the rope. if he is doing well, add a few distractions like kids playing and later on other dogs. your dog needs to come to you under these simple distrctions. before you can move ahead.
