FORCE FETCHING PART #3

When teaching the release command I use the word GIVE. I want the dog to give me the bird and not drop the bird. . When taking a retrieve from your dog please dont be in a big hurry. make sure you have a good grip on the bird before you command him to release it to you. When I command the the dog to GIVE me the bird I dont pull it from his mouth I want him to back out away from my hand while I am holding onto the bird. Pulling on the bird before the dog has released it will make him jump at the bird trying to regrip it because he thinks he didnt give it to you correctly. This problem develops into a dog that jumps at birds when in the handlers hands. Say thank you and pet your dog for a job well done.
